CCPA Compliance
DeFi Summary is committed to respecting your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and its amendment, the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). This page explains how these laws apply to our informational website and how you can exercise your rights.
Scope and Applicability
As an informational blog, DeFi Summary does not collect personal information through user registration, accounts, or databases. However, we may automatically collect certain personal information through cookies, web analytics tools, and server logs — such as IP addresses, browser type, device identifiers, and browsing behavior — primarily to improve site performance and user experience. These activities may constitute the sale or sharing of personal information under CCPA/CPRA.
Your Rights Under CCPA/CPRA
As a California resident, you have the following rights:
- Right to Know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the past 12 months.
- Right to Delete: You may request the deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: You may opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information to third parties.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not deny you services, charge different prices, or provide a different quality of service because you exercised your CCPA/CPRA rights.
- Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: You may limit our use of sensitive personal information, such as precise geolocation, if collected.
- Right to Authorized Agent: You may designate an authorized agent to make requests on your behalf.
How We Comply
DeFi Summary does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. However, we use third-party analytics and advertising services (e.g., Google Analytics, Meta Pixel) that may involve the sharing of data for targeted advertising, which qualifies as "sharing" under CPRA. We provide an opt-out mechanism below and do not retain personal information longer than necessary for operational purposes.
Data We Process
The personal information we may collect includes:
- IP address
- Browser and device identifiers
- Usage data (pages visited, time spent, clicks)
- Cookie identifiers
- Geolocation data (approximate, derived from IP)
This data is collected automatically and is not linked to your name, email, or other direct identifiers unless you voluntarily provide it via a contact form.
Legal Basis for Processing
Under CCPA/CPRA, we rely on legitimate business purposes — including site functionality, security, analytics, and improving user experience — as the basis for processing personal information. We do not collect personal information for purposes unrelated to our blog operations.
How to Exercise Your Rights
To exercise your rights under CCPA/CPRA, please contact us via email at [email protected] with the subject line "CCPA Request" and include:
- Your full name
- California residency confirmation
- Specific right you wish to exercise (e.g., "Delete my data" or "Opt out of sharing")
- Any supporting details (e.g., device ID or IP address if known)
We may request additional verification to ensure your identity before fulfilling your request.
Response Timeframes
We will acknowledge your request within 10 business days and respond fully within 45 days. If more time is needed, we will notify you and explain the reason for the delay. We may extend the response period by an additional 45 days if reasonably necessary.
No Discrimination Policy
DeFi Summary does not and will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights. You will not be denied access to our content, charged different fees, or provided a lower quality of service because you opted out, requested deletion, or made any other request under this law.
Updates and Changes
We may update this CCPA Compliance page periodically to reflect changes in law or our practices. Any material changes will be posted here with an updated effective date. We recommend reviewing this page regularly.
